“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” Art Remy
Occasionally, we may run into circumstances or life events that can alter a positive day into a bad day i.e. loss of a sale/client, missing an important meeting, breakdowns; missing out on a promotion, bad quarter earnings etc. The key is to be able to bounce back quickly and not let the event dictate our state of mind. The best executives and world class entrepreneurs I work with and advise have developed this resilience. Here’s how they do it –
- Perception: It’s not the event, but how you perceive and interpret the event will dictate what you see and how you feel. If you ask the question ‘What’s right here? What’s the opportunity here?’ instead of ‘What’s wrong?’ will quickly get you into an empowering state
- Workout: Get a workout at the gym, or hit up a yoga class. The body’s pharmacy will secrete the neurotransmitters called dopamine and reduced the stress hormone cortisol to get you back into peak state
- Nature: Take a time out, walk into nature, or experience a different environment. This will allow for the mind to relax into natural surroundings and help you rejuvenate
- Meditate: Meditation is the ultimate secret weapon of top performers. Allowing yourself to connect with the source is like recharging your body, mind and spirit.
